EMPOWER is a Women's Self Defense Program taught by women, for women.
The sessions include discussion and self defense techniques, suitable for women of all ages (16 and up) and abilities. See our EMPOWER Junior's page for courses designed for ages 12-15.
For EMPOWER FAQ's, please see below.
Empower is not a Martial Arts program. Our courses are taught by Edge Certified Black Belt Instructors who believe in the premise that women are at a greater risk of becoming victims of other people's intimidation and violence, varying in degree from a subtle instance to rape and/or death. Women do have the strength to defend themselves--EMPOWER instills a lifestyle of safe living and empowerment encouraging women to find their natural, instinctual intuition.
Our hope is that women taking our courses will never have to use the techniques that we teach them. By educating women to be aware of their surroundings, to recognize potentially unsafe situations, should she find herself needing to fight, we teach basic techniques that are easy to remember, physically un-challenging, yet effective in many self defense situations.
